Son Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue transformation from Dragon Ball Super just got even more powerful with a new technique that was never in the anime or manga.
The popular Japanese arcade game Dragon Ball Super Divers just released a brief trailer showcasing a never-before-seen technique added to Goku’s arsenal.
Throughout the course of the last 40 years, Goku has gained innumerable special attacks and abilities across the various manga, anime series and video games in which he appears, but he generally tends to stick to the same few iconic moves fans know so well, such as his famous Kamehameha or Spirit Bomb. This is exactly what makes it interesting when something wholly different is added to Goku’s bag of tricks.
Goku Gains a New Technique in Dragon Ball Super Divers Worthy of a Super Saiyan God
Named Soaring Strike Rupture, Goku’s new move is something of a combo attack that combines physical strikes with one last Kamehameha energy blast for good measure. The move is set to officially come to Dragon Ball Super Divers along with the release of its corresponding trading card on July 16 as part of
Notably, Goku is known for never really creating unique techniques of his own. Instead, most of the iconic moves that Goku uses in Dragon Ball are ones he learned directly from one of his many martial arts masters throughout the series. He learned the Kamehameha from Roshi, the Spirit Bomb and Kaioken from King Kai, and Ultra Instinct from Whis, to name just a few.
That’s not to say Goku can’t come up with moves of his own — just that Goku’s genius talent as a fighter enables him to immediately master even the most difficult moves, and these are often techniques that his masters spent their entire lives perfecting.
It hasn’t been officially confirmed whether Goku’s new attack in Super Divers is intended to be a move he came up with on his own, or something he learned from someone else, but history indicates it’s probably the latter. However, if so, who the great martial arts master is that taught Goku the Soaring Strike Rupture remains a mystery for now.
The Dragon Ball Video Game Series Has Never Been Stronger Than It Is Right Now

Dragon Ball Super Divers is an arcade game based in Japan that has still yet to come to the West. It blends physical trading card collecting with video gaming, allowing players to scan their cards to use their corresponding characters in the actual game.
Upon the release of Super Divers, the game even got a promotional one-shot manga from Toyotarou, the current author of the Dragon Ball Super manga and Akira Toriyama’s chosen heir for the manga’s future.
While the Dragon Ball Super manga has remained on indefinite hiatus since early 2025, the series was confirmed to be returning by Toyotarou himself in a statement alongside the release of his 100th “Toyotarou Tries to Draw” artwork depicting an elderly version of Son Goku back in June.
Dragon Ball fans outside of Japan can’t play Dragon Ball Super Divers for now, but there’s still plenty of Dragon Ball video game action to enjoy in the meantime. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 just recently released its final DLC on July 7, and it was accompanied by a brand-new transformation for Goku even stronger than Ultra Instinct. Additionally, the highly anticipated Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is already confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam PC sometime next year.
