All of the focus might be on the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI right now, but there are still a few months to go and plenty of fun to be had in Rockstar’s older releases. If the dying days of the Wild West is more your scene, over crime-riddled modern cities, then Red Dead Redemption 2 is obviously the first port of call.
Though you were more than likely done with much of what the single-player has to offer a long time ago, the developer has at least been diligent about tending to the multiplayer, in the absence of any DLC. Now, the latest of those events is live, and there are plenty of free downloads that you can pick up for your character.
Over on the official Rockstar website, the developer has broken down the Bounty Hunter Bonuses event, which is currently ongoing in Red Dead Online. There’s plenty to get into, but the most pressing concern is a treasure map, that’s going to go away as an easy reward in just a few days:
- July 14–20: Purchase a Weapon Modification to receive a Reward for the West Hill Haven Treasure Map
At the same time, you can also earn 3X RDO$, XP, and Role XP for every Regular Bounty you complete, while Legendary and Infamous Bounties reward 3X RDO$, XP, and Gold, for those who need to top up their coffers. All Bounty Hunter Licenses have been reduced by five gold bars for the duration of the event, and you can get a 50% discount on associated clothing items and weapons.
You can also claim a free Bounty Hunter Wagon, with an additional 50% off any tints you decide to put in it. Bounty Hunter Free Roam Events are paying out 3X RDO$ and XP through August 3, and if you take part in Day of Reckoning or Manhunt at any point in the event, then you can earn the White Rushword Shirt.
Lastly, to celebrate Independence Day in the United States, log in to receive the Rebellion Poncho, while anyone who plays Red Dead Online anytime through August 3 will receive the Spirit of 1776 Bandana.
This is certainly going to be our best bet for a cowboy good time for a while to come yet, assuming we ever get a third game in the storied RPG series. Dan Houser has already confirmed that if he had his way, there wouldn’t be, but I’m hoping Rockstar gives us at least one more run out in Red Dead Redemption.
