The original Fate/stay Night anime series is about to lose its only streaming home. It will officially depart from HIDIVE later this month.
The official X (formerly Twitter) account for HIDIVE shared the news of all the programming that would be leaving and arriving throughout July 2026. The 2006 Fate/stay Night series is set to be removed on July 31, meaning fans only have through the end of the month to revisit the Studio Deen dark fantasy anime. It currently has no other online streaming availability in the U.S., with Crunchyroll, Hulu and Disney having 2014’s Fate/stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works instead.
Fate/stay Night Loses Its Only U.S. Streaming Home on July 31
Several other anime titles will also be departing HIDIVE throughout the month. Chaika the Coffin Princess (Season 1) was removed on July 1, and Akama Ga Kill! will be the next to go on July 6, alongside Re:Stage! Dream Days?
Later this month, Blade Dance of The Elementalers and the Utano Princesama Maji Love Kingdom movie will exit HIDIVE on July 13, with the Majestic Prince: Genetic Awakening movie following on July 14. Fate/stay Night won’t be the only title saying goodbye at the very end of the month; Kampfer (TV), Kampfer ~ Fur Die Liebe and Rozen Maiden: Traumend will all likewise be going on July 31.
The 2006 Fate/stay Night adaptation was the first animated series based on Type-Moon’s Fate video game series, taking most of its story from the Fate arc in the visual novel game of the same name. 24 episodes of the series aired from January to June 2006, with an English-language dub following in 2007.
The series is set in Fuyuki City and follows Shirou Emiya, an orphaned teenager who lost his parents in a house fire and finds himself caught up in the Fifth Holy Grail War — a deadly battle royale between mages known as Masters and Servants. When Shirou accidentally summons the servant Saber to save his life, he teams up with his classmate Rin Tohsaka to stop the war once and for all.
Fate/stay Night Fans Can Still Stream Unlimited Blade Works
While the original Fate/stay Night adaptation may be about to lose its streaming home, the franchise will still be readily available to those who want to watch its most recent adaptation. 2014’s Unlimited Blade Works tells a similar story but is primarily based on its titular story route from the visual novel.
The series was developed by Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba‘s Ufotable and has been largely praised for its writing and beautiful animation style. It spawned two seasons and 26 episodes, which are still available on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Disney+ as of writing. However, it remains to be seen when or if the original Fate/stay Night will return to streaming with any major platform after its departure from HIDIVE later this month.
