Jujutsu Kaisen is a fan favorite series that follows main character Yuji Itadori in a world with a unique power known as cursed energy, giving birth to those who wield it — sorcerers and cursed spirits, setting the stage for an exciting story. Jujutsu Kaisen has become an iconic story due to its amazing premise. So far, the franchise has three TV anime season installments, and all are handled by MAPPA Studio, who have been doing a fantastic job with its adaptation.
The latest installment in the franchise was Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, and it was quite an exciting ride as it marked the beginning of the Culling Game after the shocking sealing of the Strongest Sorcerer, Gojo Satoru, in Season 2. While JJK Season 3 came to Crunchyroll on January 9, 2026, after over 6 months, Netflix is finally getting the season as well, and it’s set to premiere on the platform on July 22, 2026. This is the perfect opportunity for fans to rewatch this battle-filled sensation, or catch up for those who haven’t done so yet.
Jujutsu Kaisen Officially Confirms Season 3’s New Netflix Release On July 22, 2026
When speaking of modern shonen with the best action, Jujutsu Kaisen is a series that comes to mind immediately. Gege Akutami’s masterpiece became as popular as it is following the adaptation of its first TV anime season by MAPPA, which debuted globally on October 3, 2020. Jujutsu Kaisen went on to receive an even better release with Season 2, on July 6, 2023, and finally, we received Season 3 on January 9, 2026. The latest season kickstarts the Culling Game — a long-awaited arc that sees the return of Ancient Sorcerers and heated battles in colonies all across Japan. The stakes are at their highest, with Gojo Satoru, the world’s strongest sorcerer, being locked away in the Prison Realm.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 began airing on January 9 in Japan on MBS and TBS television networks, and luckily for international fans, the episodes would also air simultaneously worldwide with English subtitles through platforms like Crunchyroll. While Crunchyroll has had the rights to Jujutsu Kaisen from the get-go, the same can’t be said about another streaming giant — Netflix.
Netflix was launched as a streaming platform in the USA on January 16, 2007. It has definitely become one of the biggest platforms to watch shows and movies, but in terms of anime, Crunchyroll still often has the edge. Regardless, Netflix is now receiving one of the hottest anime of the year in the form of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. As confirmed by the streaming giant in a new announcement, they will finally stream Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game later this month. To be precise, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: Culling Game will be streamable on Netflix starting July 22, 2026 — 6 months after the original premiere of the anime on Crunchyroll.
After 2 Years, Jujutsu Kaisen Officially Brings Back The New Sukuna
Sukuna died at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, but his character arc is being repeated through his successor, Yuji Itadori.
Why Netflix Released Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 So Late
Fans may be surprised to see Netflix receive the biggest anime of 2026 so late. After all, in the 7 months of being on Crunchyroll and other platforms, almost every fan has already watched the season and enjoyed it to the fullest. Interest in JJK Season 3 has definitely dropped since, and now, fans are more interested in the upcoming content, which is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4. The reason as to why Netflix has just acquired the anime season is simple, and it has to do with the licensing rights of the series.
For Jujutsu Kaisen, Sony owns the distribution rights. As Sony owns Crunchyroll, it would make no sense for them to give the streaming rights of a behemoth release like Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 to their rivals, Netflix. Now that enough time has passed, it doesn’t pose the risk of competition. To be exact, this new JJK release doesn’t apply to the whole world. This new release is focused on countries like the USA, Canada, and the UK. However, other countries already have Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 on their Netflix because of different licensing rights. Many Asian countries have had Jujutsu Kaisen for a while on Netflix. A few examples include Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and others.
In either case, North America and the UK are officially catching up and receiving the series before the end of this month, which is still exciting for the fans who are looking for a full rewatch of the Culling Game season, or for fans who haven’t gotten around to watching the latest season.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 Is Officially Coming to Crunchyroll In 2027, But Netflix Release Could Be Delayed
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was an incredible ride. While the season might have started on a slower note, with a lot of exposition and lore reveals, it all quickly heated up with events like the Zenin Clan Massacre or the Sendai Colony Battle. This season was generally very well received, and it has some highly rated episodes. Sadly, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was short, and it ended on March 27, 2026, with Episode 12. This was certainly a blow, and made it the shortest in the whole franchise, but luckily, right after the last episode, we received the confirmation from MAPPA Studio on March 27, 2026, that season 4 is officially on the way.
While we don’t have an exact release date for JJK Season 4 yet, we do know it’s releasing sometime next year, in 2027. With that being said, we might receive a big update on the official release date soon, as Los Angeles is hosting the biggest US-based anime event of the year — Anime Expo. Anime Expo 2026 is starting today, on July 3, 2026. The Expo will last a few days and run on July 4, July 5. We expect many massive reveals during this event for a variety of series, and as far as Jujutsu Kaisen goes, we can’t wait for the IP’s stage. Jujutsu Kaisen will take center stage on July 5, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 10:50 AM local time, and will be located at the Crypto.com Arena. Fans of JJK attending the event could be in for an exciting live surprise.
Soon, we might find out an official Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 release date. New information could at least confirm which month to expect the new Season in. Since Jujutsu Kaisen premieres on Crunchyroll in North America, we’re expecting a release date update on the platform. Anime fans with only a Netflix account might have to wait for a couple of months before gaining access to Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4.
