Naruto is officially set to return in 2027, but likely not in the form many fans expected.
Via Naruto‘s official website and Japanese news and entertainment site Oricon, Naruto is set for an all-new Japanese-UK production kicking off in February 2027. Titled Naruto Ninja Show, the show has been labeled “the biggest Naruto theatrical production in history” and is set to premiere in Kyoto at the Minami-za Theater, running from February through June.
The show’s first promotional poster has been released and can be seen below, along with a teaser video filmed at Minami-za and showcasing the titular ninja, played by Yuuri Takahashi. The same role will be shared by Ryuma Aoi, with the production also starring REI as Sasuke Uchiha, Yui Oikawa as Sakura Haruno and HIROMA as Kakashi Hatake.

For international fans lucky enough to be able to catch Naruto Ninja Show in person, any potential language barrier will not be an issue, as the production is a completely non-verbal creation that “relies solely on action, movement, and body language” to tell its story. The show will highlight Naruto Uzumaki’s life as a young ninja growing up in the Hidden Leaf Village, covering the “Childhood” arc of the series (Episodes 480-483 of Naruto: Shippuden).
Billed as “a new must-see experiential attraction for both domestic and international tourists,” the production is set to include “a fusion of live-action performances by actors, physical expression including action, acrobatics, and aerial techniques, cutting-edge technologies such as projection mapping and illusion, and the many stage mechanisms unique to Minamiza as a kabuki theater.”
Notably, the stage show is a collaboration between Japan and the UK. Directed by Go Ueki, who previously worked on stage adaptations of Attack on Titan and Sailor Moon, Naruto Ninja Show also boasts Neil Dorward as its global creative consultant, best known for his work with Cirque du Soleil.
Speaking about the production, director Ueki said, “The entire cast and staff will devote ourselves wholeheartedly to creating a stage experience that makes audiences feel as though they are traveling through the world of Naruto… The entire cast and staff will devote ourselves wholeheartedly to creating a stage experience that makes audiences feel as though they are traveling through the world of Naruto.”
“It is a great honor to be part of this project and to work with director Go Ueki and the wonderful Japanese creative team,” Dorward added. “I am very much looking forward to contributing to the creation of a work that is unprecedented, visually dynamic, and worthy of the great legacy built by Naruto… I am confident that by bringing together Japanese artistry, theatrical innovation, and the spirit of Naruto, we can create a truly special production.”
