The saga of Naruto is one loaded with emotion, explosive fights, and generational trauma as its hero fights to end a cycle of hatred. It’s made Naruto Uzumaki cross paths with the likes of hired assassins, criminal organizations, and even godlike aliens as the series has changed hands from his generation to that of his son, Boruto. The series has sparked a wildly successful anime franchise, video games, merchandise, and even live-action adaptations. While the Naruto movie has been in a slow production process, though, that’s not the only way in which the franchise is being showcased in live-action.
With previous productions like Live Spectacle NARUTO covering the greatest sagas of Masashi Kishimoto’s epic manga, Naruto’s been running high-profile stage productions for over a decade. But now the official Naruto website has confirmed the largest-scale production to date, Ninja Show 「Naruto」and while it comes with the usual catch of being a limited engagement in Japan, it’ll be available for lucky attendees in Kyoto, Japan, from February to June 2027.
Naruto’s Next Live-Action Project Is All Action With Zero Talk No Jutsu
With a teaser filmed featuring the show’s venue, Minamiza Theatre in Kyoto, Ninja Show Naruto is hyping its February 2027 debut thanks to some impressive creative collaboration. Featuring returning stage director Go Ueki, of Attack on Titan and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’s live show renown, the production features key collaboration with Neil Dorward of Cirque du Soleil, promising a vibrant, dynamic rendition of Naruto’s acrobatic action choreography.
With the first glimpse accompanying the reveal of Yuri Takahashi to star as the young Nine-Tails jinchuriki, Ninja Show Naruto has also confirmed Yui Oikawa as Sakura Haruno, REI as Sasuke Uchiha, and HIROMA as Kakashi Hatake.
The most intriguing bit about this series is its promise of a non-verbal rendition, focusing on “action, acrobatics, and aerial performances with cutting-edge technology such as projection mapping and illusions” as part of Japan’s vibrant 2.5D stage play scene. The play also directly advertises itself as an accessible experience both for local Japanese theatre patrons and international tourists, meaning Naruto fans around the globe are welcome.

With sequel series Boruto celebrating 10 years of serialization and releasing its new guidebook in the past month, there’s been plenty of jubilation across multiple corners of the fandom. Naruto as a franchise is pushing forward while not losing sight of its iconic past, and between Ninja Show Naruto, the four promised episodes, and the recently-announced card game, it appears its legacy is being honored now more than ever. While details are slim, Weekly Shonen Jump’s final issue of June 2026 teased more information on the Naruto franchise.
Boruto’s Anime Comeback: What We Know About the Return of Naruto’s Sequel
Naruto’s sequel spin-off series, Boruto, has finally been confirmed for a long-awaited second season after much debate about its continuation.
Granted, this could be further expansion on the recent news such as the stage play or the card game, especially with the latter’s upcoming featured appearance at Gen Con 2026. But still, with Boruto’s manga clearly having set up substantial backlog for a solid seasonal anime adaptation by Pierrot, there’s plenty of reason to hold out hope either for the weekend or the coming months as Naruto celebrates 25 years of the anime in 2027.
