Spider-Man: Brand New Day will continue Peter Parker’s story after Doctor Strange helped him erase himself from the world’s memory in No Way Home, and fans are incredibly excited about the upcoming MCU story. Fan anticipation is at an all-time high, but that attention has unfortunately come with a major downside. Over the past several days, Brand New Day has been plagued with a steady stream of leaks, from plot details to full trailers.
While audiences are looking forward to seeing Peter deal with his new life and face new threats alongside major MCU heroes, some viewers are concerned that, because of the leaks, there’ll be very little of Brand New Day to discover by the time it hits theaters. So far, Sony hasn’t addressed the leaks, but leaks are being removed from the internet via copyright takedowns.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Just Set a Franchise Record, & It’s Great News
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has yet another update that continues to position it as the MCU’s best Peter Parker movie.
Leakers Have Threatened to Release Brand New Day in its Entirety
Multiple Brand New Day trailers have been circulating on the internet over the past few weeks, while full scenes and plot details have also been posted online. Many of these accounts have been removed, but more are popping up to unveil new videos. According to reports, the situation escalated when a much clearer version was posted, complete with visible Sony watermarks. That leaked footage reportedly revealed several major character appearances and scenes.
There are even rumors that one of the leakers has access to the full movie with unfinished VFX and is currently trying to sell it, so there’s every chance that Brand New Day will be posted online before its official release. Fan discussion has, understandably, intensified. There’s currently no public evidence confirming the user’s possession of the full movie, but the possibility has many audiences concerned about spoilers. Regardless of whether the information is true, the volume of leaked Brand New Day content is far more extreme than most theatrical releases experience.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Set Leak Seemingly Confirms Sequel’s Place in the MCU Timeline
A behind-the-scenes leak from the Scottish-based set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day may reveal where the film fits in the MCU timeline.
Disney & Marvel Typically Have Harsh Punishments For Leaks
When Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s script and subtitle files were posted on r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers, the studio filed a federal subpoena to expose the culprit’s identity, which led to the subreddit being shut down and the leaks being wiped. The company also targeted individual leakers and scoop pages, such as the prominent and reliable @CanWeGetSomeToast user, after Captain America: Brave New World art was leaked. It’s sadly not a new problem for Disney or Marvel, but the scale of Brand New Day’s leaks is unlike anything audiences have seen before.
Ironically, Brand New Day was benefiting from a more strategic marketing campaign. Sony and Marvel previously coordinated a global rollout for the film’s first trailer and even involved fan creators in its release strategy. That approach was designed to maximize excitement, but these recent leaks are undermining the impact of future reveals. There’s still over a month to go before Brand New Day swings into theaters, so it may be safer for fans to avoid social media if they hope to experience Peter Parker’s next adventure with only officially-revealed information.
