Hunter x Hunter is famous for its massive cast of endearing characters, with one of the very few true heroes of this grim world being Kite. The final mentor of Gon Freecss was a pivotal player during the iconic Chimera Ant Arc, and now, they’re finally returning with an all-new design.
Sadly, Kite has not suddenly found themselves as part of the ongoing Succession Contest in the Hunter x Hunter manga, nor has a new anime series featuring him been announced. However, the character has now been confirmed as the next addition to the hit mobile game Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor. He will be played by Shuichi Ikeda, who also voiced Kite in the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime series.
Kite’s new game design can be seen below, in which he wears his established Chimera Ant-era outfit. Also included, and likely less familiar to fans with this new iteration, are the purple aura, water effects and chibi battle model drawn specifically for the Nen x Survivor update.
Kite Is Officially Coming to Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor
Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor is a roguelike survivor-action game where players mow down waves of enemies with Nen ability, as described on its official Google Play page. The free-to-play game released earlier in 2026, giving fans the chance to utilize many of their favorite characters, and currently boasts a 4.3-star rating.
On July 20, Kite will be joining the roster of characters present in Nen x Survivor. However, their presence in the game may only be for a short while, as he will debut through a limited-time pickup gacha running from July 20 through Aug. 3 (although this does not necessarily mean Kite himself will become unusable or disappear from players’ rosters afterward).
“Kite (voiced by Shuichi Ikeda) is a Hunter who specializes in biological research and is a student of Ging. He is particularly skilled at researching large creatures and has been involved in the discovery of numerous new species. He met Gon when Gon was young, and by telling him about his connection to Ging, Kite became the person who inspired Gon to take the Hunter Exam. The new character [Grim Reaper’s Scythe] Kite will appear in a limited-time pickup gacha. Pickup period: July 20 at 9 a.m. to Aug. 3 at 8:59 a.m.
It is unknown whether Kite will be made a permanent fixture of Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor. It’s also unclear if Kite’s current form will ever be added to the game, as during the final arcs of the anime, he was killed by Neferpitou, only to be reborn as a young girl and the twin sister of the Chimera Ant King, Meruem.
