While The Wheel of Time Prime Video series wasn’t necessarily a smash-hit success, ultimately getting cancelled after just three seasons, it’s a shame we never saw Robert Jordan’s epic fantasy adventure get a proper on-screen adaptation, particularly when it comes to the novel’s climactic final showdown. Even with a massive budget and seemingly endless resources, Wheel of Time simply may be too large a story to receive a satisfying adaptation to television or film.
Fortunately, the franchise’s future isn’t entirely tied to Hollywood. While live-action ambitions may be on hold for the foreseeable future, new projects are continuing to expand Robert Jordan’s world in other mediums, giving longtime readers and newcomers alike fresh opportunities to experience the Last Battle and beyond.
As such, adaptations aren’t completely dead in the water, as the highly anticipated War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time game is officially slated to launch in 2027, with The One Power set to arrive in June (via Kickstarter).
War of the Dragon is an exciting new grand strategy game from Dire Wolf Games that is slated for a 2027 release, with its Kickstarter campaign officially fully funded. As part of the various pledge options for the campaign, backers who selected “The One Power” option will officially be receiving some incredible bonus rewards as part of their pledge.
The One Power pledge tier was listed for $123 USD and will give players the official Wheel of Time: The One Power edition of the board game when it releases in June 2027. This set includes a set of several cardboard standees and limited-edition plastic mini figures as part of its main contents, as well as the Backerkit access.
The One Power was the “silver tier” option for the campaign, one step above the most basic set, The Dragon Reborn, and a step below the more expensive and comprehensive The Last Battle Bundle, which includes several unique extras, such as a Component Upgrade Pack, War of the Dragon card sleeves, a neoprene playmat, and more.
Unfortunately, the Kickstarter campaign ended earlier this month after well exceeding its goal, and all tiers are now closed. That said, while the pledge options are now unavailable, if you missed your chance to claim The One Power or any of the other pledge tiers, War of the Dragon is certain to see a retail release at some point after its Kickstarter fulfillment has been completed and shipped, and The Wheel of Time fans will want to keep their ear to the ground for an official announcement from Dire Wolf on its retail release window.
