New Stranger Things Sequel Book Announced Before Netflix Return

New Stranger Things Sequel Book Announced Before Netflix Return

Stranger Things is back, and Netflix is officially giving fans the chance to dive even deeper into the Upside Down with a special book. Its arrival comes as multiple spin-offs for the franchise are reportedly in development.

Netflix’s Tudum revealed Stranger Things: The Official Story Behind the Legendary Series, dubbed the “definitive guide to all things Stranger Things.” It is now available for purchase exclusively at Target, where it retails for $50 and offers a companion to all five seasons of the hit Netflix series, loaded with exclusive content. It includes a foreword from the Duffer brothers, interviews with the cast, and incredible photos, some of which can be seen below.

New Stranger Things Book Offers a Nostalgic Look at Netflix’s Hit Series

The Stranger Things companion book also includes snippets of scripts with commentary from the show’s writers, directors, and stars, as well as concept art, storyboards, an in-depth look at costuming, and even maps. There is also a secret ‘code’ embedded in the book that eagle-eyed fans will be able to use to access bonus content on Tudum.

In the press release for the book, Netflix teased some of the special content fans will be able to enjoy inside the book’s pages, namely an interview with Joey Keery, who played Steve Harrington, where he talked about beating a Demogorgon in Season 1. “It was probably one of my favorite days filming the show,” he revealed.

Those looking to enjoy even more of Stranger Things‘ world on the page also have plenty of options to do so. Since 2018, Dark Horse Comics has partnered with Netflix to publish numerous Stranger Things comics, with the first being a four-issue miniseries written by Jody Houser with art by Stefano Martino. Taking place during the show’s first season, it explored Will Byers’ experiences in the Upside Down.

A second miniseries explored Francine, a test subject who was part of the experiments just before Eleven’s arrival. A graphic novel taking place shortly after the first season is also available, as well as a third miniseries — Into the Fire — that explores the events before Season 3.

As far as crossovers are concerned, Netflix has even allowed Stranger Things to enter some pretty wild universes. Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons were co-published by IDW Publishing and Dark Horse Comics in 2020 and were successful enough to prompt a follow-up, The Rise of Hellfire, in 2025. In 2023, Dark Horse Comics and IDW Publishing once again crossed over with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X Stranger Things, which is set between Season 2 and 3.

A New Live-Action Stranger Things Spin-Off Is Rumored to Be in Development

Well before Stranger Things took its final bow, rumors began to swirl that a live-action spin-off would be in the works. Details about the series have yet to be confirmed by official sources, other than Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard reportedly guessing its premise while working on the series. Given the Duffer Brothers’ recent move away from Netflix, the spin-off’s status might be in jeopardy.

With that said, there’s another Stranger Things series that will still be pushing through in the future. The animated Tales from ’85 premiered with its first ten episodes on April 23 and was quickly renewed by Netflix for a second season. It will reportedly be released later this year.

Stranger Things: The Official Story Behind the Legendary Series is available for purchase now exclusively at Target.
