Sadly, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is not a new big budget television series on par with House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. What it is, however, should still be great, as Kingsroad is an official Game of Thrones action adventure RPG.

Available on Steam and mobile devices, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad tells an original story in the world of Westeros, and gives players the option to choose one of three classes to navigate it as: a knight, a sellsword, or an assassin. The game launched in 2025, has been receiving exceptionally positive feedback from players since, and is now beginning its first new season of additional content.

On July 15, Season 1 of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, “The North Bannerman Qualifiers: Frost and Steel” will begin. “The Invasion of the Iron Islands, and The North’s Counterattack,” the official description begins. “The Ironborn have begun to invade the coastlines of Westeros.”

“Though the shadow of the Reavers looms over the North, the Northerners have chosen to counterattack in their own way rather than cowering in fear. The Great Houses of the North have put forward their bannermen (Champions) to fight for honor.”

“Season 1 is a tournament stage for honor, not a brutal all-out war,” the description continues. “It is like the North’s Olympics, fueled by a spirit of competition rather than hostility towards each other. You will pledge allegiance to one of the three Great Houses, and experience the season as that house’s champion.”

Players will have the choice to fight in this tournament for either House Umber, House Hornwood, or House Manderly. House Umber is “untamed and unbroken” as the Protector of the Gift, House Hornwood fights with “honor and loyalty” as the Shield of the North, and House Manderly represents “wisdom and prosperity” as the Ruler of White Harbor.

All participating players will be ranked within the house they choose to fight for. There are five tiers on the leaderboard, and the five players who achieve the exclusive top rank of “Top Bannermen” will be permanently registered in the game’s Hall of Fame.
