Premium Bandai has revealed a stunning new collection of embroidered T-shirts commemorating some of the most beloved mechs found in the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. Fans of both protagonist Amuro Ray and villain Char Aznable are in luck, as these shirts showcase both characters’ mechs in stunning detail. Over 45 years after the series initially aired, Mobile Suit Gundam remains one of the most influential anime ever made, and those wanting to display their love for the OG mecha phenomenon won’t want to miss this chance.
In May, a special livestream was held to announce several new projects in the Gundam universe, leaving longtime fans in utter shock at the mountain of fresh content to come throughout 2026 and beyond. The most incredible announcement for many was a remaster of the original 1979 anime series Mobile Suit Gundam, slated to be released in 2029 to coincide with the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Developed by Sunrise, the series remains notable for being the first to depict massive mechs as mass-produced weapons of war, with a remake potentially serving to bring an entirely new generation of fans into the fold.
New Mobile Suit Gundam Embroidered T-Shirts Pay Homage to the Landmark Series
Premium Bandai has revealed a collection of three embroidered Mobile Suit Gundam T-shirts, with preorders now open until July 26 at 11 PM JST. The shirts feature Amuro Ray’s signature RX-78-2 White Devil Gundam, Ramba Ral’s MS-07B Gouf, and Char Aznable’s MSM-07S Z’Gok Commander Type Gundam. Each features a simple accent on the front pocket, and the shirts are made from heavyweight, quality fabric. Each tee is available in M, L, XL, and XXL, and priced at ¥8,800 (around $55). Following the preorder period, the shirts will go on general sale at STRICT-G retail stores in Tokyo, Shizuoka, and Shiga in limited quantities starting August 1.
It continues to be an exciting time for Gundam fans around the globe, and those in Japan are in for a treat early next year. ‘Gundam-Con’ event will take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba from January 9–11, 2027, with the event featuring tournaments, exclusive merchandise, booths, and more, with additional details to be revealed this summer. After it takes place in Japan, the event will also travel to various global locations, though these have yet to be confirmed. The Japan Anniversary Association has also dubbed April 7 as Gundam Day, and in 2029, the Tokyo National Museum will host an exhibition dedicated to Gundam‘s creator, Yoshiyuki Tomino.
A slew of incredible Gundam merchandise has been released throughout 2026, from replicas of Char’s sunglasses to items centered around the protagonists of the Alternative Series. Additionally, a crossover with McDonald’s Japan earlier in the year let fans enjoy the popular Chicken Tatsuta sandwich in a whole new way, with offerings contained in special Gundam-themed packaging.

Mobile Suit Gundam isn’t the only anime series getting the royal treatment. Fans of Gundam Wing also have something to look forward to, as a new “visual project” has been announced to commemorate its 30th anniversary. While it’s unclear whether this will be a short clip, a film, or a new anime series, fans are encouraged to keep an eye out for updates in the near future. Last year, Gundam Wing celebrated its 30th anniversary with various events, including the return of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz to theaters in the US for a brief run.
