Today, Asetek Racing has announced it is bringing a new sim racing wheelbase to the market that will add to its extensive ecosystem of setups. The next wheelbase in the Asetek Racing line is the Initium DD10, as it delivers direct drive performance and genuine cross-platform freedom and compatibility for racers. While Asetek Racing has officially announced this new wheelbase, the full details will come at a later date. This will launch in Q4 2026, and it will be compatible with both Xbox and PC, so no PlayStation or Switch support. This is still a win to have more wheelbases in the console ecosystem, and Xbox could use some more options.
The Core Aspects of the Initium DD10
In our review of the previous Initium wheelbase, it was noted that it was fairly heavy, but the feedback was fantastic. The DD stands for direct drive, and the 10 monicker is the amount of torque. This measures in at 10 Nm, but the latest Initium DD10 wheelbase is upgradeable up to 14 Nm. This is for those seeking extreme feedback while racing, and certainly some toned arms. The Initium DD10 is being built to go back and forth between Xbox and PC, which means the Xbox supported product portfolio for Asetek is being expanded.
This will launch in Q4 2026, and it will be compatible with both Xbox and PC, so no PlayStation or Switch support.
There is an “openness” to this wheelbase, as well. This is accomplished via onboard USB pass-through capabilities. This will allow for the Initium DD10 wheelbase to support both a full range of Asetek Racing wheels, but also third-party wheels. This is a rare level of compatibility. This can also potentially save some players’ money as they will not need to invest in a new wheel if they invested heavily in their current setup. Players will be able to take compatible wheels and use the USB pass-through to connect them to the wheelbase.

Other Potential Aspects Based on the Design
The design of the Initium DD10 is the same as the wheelbase included with the Initium Racing Bundle. That wheelbase offered 8 Nm of torque as opposed to the 10-14 that the DD10 will offer. You can expect the ability to slip on Asetek wheels and have a desk clamp that mounts to the bottom. That wheelbase is due to receive Xbox compatibility at some point, but the DD10 will offer Xbox compatibility out of the box when it launches later this year.
Review: ASETEK INITIUM Racing Bundle
Diving into the world of sim racing, ASETEK’s INITIUM Racing Bundle promises a beginner’s wheel experience that quickly elevates beyond expectations.
You can expect the rear of the wheelbase to use USB-C connections and have its own power source. Asetek offers its own pedals that will be compatible with the unit, but the company currently lacks a manual shifter. This looks to be changing, however, with a combination shifter that does both H-pattern and sequential. No information has been released for this, but this has been experienced in the public. Hopefully, both of these will launch at the same time.
Asetek adds to its line of racing setups that range from beginner to elite. The company offers cockpits and a plethora of combinations to purchase to help save some money. The Invicta is the premiere line for Asetek followed by the Forte that is geared for enthusiasts, La Prima for advanced racers, and the Initium for entry level. All have their own set of wheels, bases, pedals and accessories. The Initium DD10 will be aimed to provide a more advanced experience for those who need a bit more and don’t want to break the bank.
