After more than a decade of stories spanning web novels, light novels, manga, and anime, Mushoku Tensei is preparing to close its final chapter. Kadokawa has officially confirmed that Mushoku Tensei: Redundant Reincarnation Volume 4 will be released in Japan on November 25, 2026, bringing the epilogue series, and the franchise’s remaining light novel storyline, to an end.
The announcement, via Kadokawa’s MF Books imprint, arrives as Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 is airing, giving fans both new anime episodes and a definitive countdown to the novels’ conclusion. While the main 26-volume light novel series ended in 2022, the Redundant Reincarnation epilogue has continued exploring the lives of Rudeus Greyrat and his family. Now, with only five months remaining until the final volume, one of isekai’s most influential stories is approaching its true ending.
Mushoku Tensei’s Final Novel Is Officially On The Way
Kadokawa’s MF Books imprint confirmed that Mushoku Tensei: Redundant Reincarnation will conclude with Volume 4 on November 25, 2026. The epilogue series first entered print in June 2023, adapting stories originally published by author Rifujin na Magonote on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website between 2015 and 2017 after the main web novel concluded.
Unlike the original series, which focused on Rudeus’ adventures across a dangerous fantasy world, the epilogue shifts attention toward life after the final battle. It follows the Greyrat family through milestones such as Norn’s wedding, Lucie’s first days at school, and the futures of supporting characters including Dohga, Isolde, and Ghislaine, giving longtime readers closure beyond the main ending.
Kadokawa is also celebrating the finale with a special edition of Volume 4 featuring an exclusive acrylic stand illustrated by series artist Shirotaka. Both the standard and collector’s editions will include the brand-new story “Lucy’s Melancholy,” expanding on the life of Rudeus’ eldest daughter. An English release date has not yet been announced, though Seven Seas Entertainment continues publishing the series internationally.
The Anime Continues Even As The Novels Reach Their Finish Line
Although the novels are nearing their final release, the anime adaptation still has plenty of story left to tell. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 premiered in July 2026, continuing Studio Bind’s adaptation after the second season concluded in 2024. Crunchyroll is once again streaming the series, with additional releases on Netflix and Hulu helping introduce new audiences to the franchise.
Season 3 picks up after Rudeus finally found stability following the emotional struggles explored throughout Season 2. That peace does not last long, however, as new threats begin emerging that promise some of the most dramatic arcs from the original novels. Early episodes have focused on establishing those conflicts before the series moves into larger-scale battles.
The franchise’s success has been remarkable. Beginning as a web novel in 2012, Mushoku Tensei became a 26-volume light novel series that finished in 2022, inspired multiple manga adaptations and spin-offs, and helped redefine modern isekai storytelling after its anime debut in 2021. With Redundant Reincarnation ending this November, readers will finally receive the last official chapter of Rudeus Greyrat’s journey, closing a story that has shaped the genre for nearly 15 years.
