Leaked Avatar Aang Movie Officially Coming to Streaming Early

Leaked Avatar Aang Movie Officially Coming to Streaming Early

Paramount+’s upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender movie leaked earlier this year in April, when the entire movie was uploaded online on X (formerly Twitter) before being circulated around the internet. Set after the events of the original The Last Airbender TV series, but before The Legend of Korra, Avatar Aang is the first in a series of three films following the adventures of the Gaang as Team Avatar faces new challenges into adulthood.

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender was originally scheduled to release on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026, but following the recent leak, the streaming service will be premiering the movie much earlier than expected – this month, in fact. The new trailer for the film even ends with a dedication to the fans who have been waiting for Avatar Aang, “Thank you, fans, for your dedication and your passion. This is for you.”

Leaked Avatar Aang Movie Officially Coming to Streaming Early

New Official Avatar: The Last Airbender Release Confirmed for July 23

A brand-new Avatar: The Last Airbender release will be available for fans around the world to enjoy next month.

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is Coming to Streaming on July 25, 2026

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will officially be available for streaming on Paramount+ on July 25, 2026, roughly two and a half months early from its expected October 9 release date. Although not confirmed by Paramount, the pushed-up release date feels like a deliberate response to the film being leaked earlier this year. The trailer’s message to fans at the end likewise feels like a wink from Paramount to fans who chose not to engage with the leak, and instead have waited patiently for an official release.

Set around twelve years after the end of Book 3: Air, Avatar Aang focuses on the Gaang discovering a new Airbender, Tagah, who survived the Air Nomad Genocide and seeks to bring his people back. The movie will force Aang to face his past, while forging a new future for his people, culture, and the world at large. The film features a new voice cast for the main characters and has a runtime of 99 minutes.

The Avatar Movie is Skipping Movie Theaters

The main cast of Avatar Aang

Despite the franchise’s popularity and just how much buzz the leak received, Paramount is holding firm on their refusal to release Avatar Aang in theaters. Boasting a budget of $80 million, the movie’s animation, art direction, and presentation all lend itself better to a theatrical release than a streaming dump – doubly so, since releasing in theaters would offer those who watched the leak a different (better) way to actually experience the film.

Asami, Korra, and Avatar State Korra

Korra Officially Returns in Avatar: The Last Airbender Sequel Series

The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars is a brand-new sequel series by the Avatar franchise’s co-creator, set right after the events of Book 4: Balance.

Limited engagement releases are becoming more and more common for anime movies, so even a short weekend where Avatar Aang ran in theaters would have done well. Instead, Paramount is determined to keep the Avatar franchise locked to streaming. Hopefully, the new movie will do well enough to justify a high budget for future films and encourage Paramount to give the series the theatrical presentation Avatar: The Last Airbender deserves.
