Of all the Final Fantasy games, FF9 may be the most beloved among the series’ core fanbase. There’s a reason why Square Enix continues to shower it with attention as the PS1 RPG celebrates its 26th anniversary, even if they refuse to announce the much-desired remake of Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Steiner’s legendary adventure.
The newest announcement celebrating Final Fantasy IX comes in the form of a new addition to a pre-existing line of products. Specifically, a new Final Fantasy IX music box has been made available for pre-order.
Final Fantasy IX Returns With a New Music Box Available to Preorder Now
Square Enix’s Final Fantasy music boxes have been wonderful releases since they began, and FF9 fans have certainly been given plenty to enjoy. Zidane and Garnet’s love theme, “Melodies of Life,” has been available for some time, and “Not Alone” and “Roses of May” have been available for pre-order.
Now, “A Place to Call Home” is receiving its own music box. This is long overdue, as this iconic track serves as the main theme of Final Fantasy IX.
“This is the FINAL FANTASY IX music box, featuring the main theme song “A Place to Call Home,” the official description on Square Enix’s website reads. “Classic songs spanning across the FINAL FANTASY series are now available as music boxes. The designs on the case are pulled right from the scenes where these songs are heard to evoke beloved memories of the series.”
“FINAL FANTASY IX Music Box – A Place to Call Home” is available for pre-order now, and will be officially released in October 2026. The music box costs approximately $29 USD.
This music box not only makes a great addition to the collection of anyone collecting the whole line, but for any and all FF9 fans. To be sure, this is a piece of merchandise worth picking up for anyone who has already bought “Final Fantasy IX Picture Book: Vivi and Grandpa’s Memories for the Sky” and who is planning to watch Final Fantasy IX: The Black Mages’ Legacy.
