Having concluded its successful run on November 10, 2014, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #50, Naruto, by Masashi Kishimoto, was officially immortalized as one of the greatest manga series of all time. Since then, the Naruto series has continued through various side projects as well as a sequel series that goes by the name of Boruto. While incredibly successful in its own way, Boruto follows the story of Naruto’s son, Boruto Uzumaki. Fans, however, yearn for the return of the Naruto series to this day and hope that Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the Naruto series, makes a comeback.
To that end, we have some incredibly exciting news for all Naruto fans. It was officially announced in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #31, which was released officially on June 28, 2026, that the Naruto manga is going to feature a major announcement in the next issue of Jump, which is officially going to come out on July 5, 2026. This announcement is tied directly to the Naruto franchise and Masashi Kishimoto, and we absolutely cannot wait to see what’s in store for the fans of the story.
Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #32 Officially Lines Up A Major Naruto Announcement For July 5, 2026
In Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #31, which came out on June 28, 2026, quite a lot of new announcements were made, as is usually the case. However, what took us by surprise was Naruto being featured among the announcements. It was officially stated that the Naruto series will get a major announcement of its own in the next issue of Jump. In other words, Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #32, which is officially set to be released on July 5, 2026, is going to feature major news for the Naruto franchise.
“Uzu-Repo (Uzumaki Report)… In the next issue of Jump, we’re delivering the latest news on “NARUTO”! Make sure to check it out, ttebayo!” — Official Naruto News Advertisement in WSJ Issue #31
As to what this news is, the announcement did not make it clear, but it is supposedly very exciting news connected directly to Masashi Kishimoto and the Naruto franchise, and is likely separate from Boruto. This suggests that this franchise could be set up for a revival of some sort. This makes a lot of sense when looking at the most recent return of Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter X Hunter manga, and even more recently, the major news of Tite Kubo returning with the adaptation of the Hell Arc to Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Perhaps, Masashi Kishimoto is making a comeback as well, and if that were to be the case, we couldn’t be more delighted.
After 16 Years, Naruto Brings Back A Legendary Akatsuki In New Release
The backstory of this legendary Akatsuki has gotten a fresh new animation, bringing the tragedy back to life once more.
New Naruto Announcement Could Be Tied To Kishimoto’s Return To Shonen Jump
In August 2024, Kana held an event in Paris called “Konoha Experience”, where Masashi Kishimoto was present. There, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the Naruto series, officially stated that he may someday return to manga and hopes that his family gives him the inspiration to make a comeback once more at some point in the future. Two years have passed since, and Kishimoto has not announced any new project. However, this new announcement that is going to be featured in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #32 on July 5, 2026, could very well be it.
“While I was struggling with that block, I thought that maybe there could be some avenues to explore with family lineage or blood ties. I also came to realize that the pressure of living up to expectations can also take a heavy toll on a person. So I took that shift in my own mindset and applied it to Naruto. I’d like to depict my conclusions regarding that idea in a manga someday, so please wait patiently for it.” — Masashi Kishimoto teases plans for a new manga in France, 2024
While we don’t know exactly what the new announcement is, it could very well be tied to Kishimoto’s return to Jump. This new return to Jump could potentially mark the beginning of a new era for the Naruto franchise if it is to return to serialization once again.
On the other hand, this return could also be Kishimoto simply returning with a completely new series. In the past, Masashi Kishimoto launched his own second story, named Samurai 8, which ended up being axed from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, which was incredibly unfortunate. However, Kishimoto might have galvanized himself since and made preparations for another comeback. In either case, we are incredibly excited to see what this legendary author is planning next for his career, but we can only hope that this return is tied directly to the Naruto franchise, as has been heavily teased by the advertisement.
Naruto’s 4 Special Episodes Might Receive An Update In The New Jump Announcement
While a return to manga would be the best announcement that we could get on July 5, 2026, pertaining to the Naruto franchise, another announcement that could potentially be tied to it is pertaining to the 4 Naruto episodes that were first promised to us in 2023. These episodes were for the 20th anniversary of the Naruto anime, but have since then been indefinitely on a hiatus, which is incredibly unfortunate. Major reports, however, confirmed that these Naruto episodes are now officially complete and are ready for release in either late 2026 or 2027.
Boruto Is Officially Powering Up The 5 Kage After 15 Years
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is officially allowing the 5 Kage to level up their skill after their underwhelming performance in the 4th Great Ninja War.
Perhaps, this new announcement featured in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #32 is going to be tied to these episodes, given that the anime falls within the realms of the Naruto franchise. This announcement could potentially be tied to the return of the anime, which would be equally fun, although not as exciting as a return of the manga. In either case, fans of the Naruto franchise would welcome both with open arms, be it the return of Masashi Kishimoto with the continuation of a Naruto series, a spin-off adaptation, or simply a one-shot. If it is the return of the anime with a bunch of new episodes that have never been seen before, the reception is going to be just as great.
In either case, what we know for sure is that the Naruto franchise is making a comeback of some sort, and next week is going to be absolutely major when it comes to news breaking out for this incredible series. For now, all we can do is wait patiently for the next issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, which will confirm to us what this new Naruto project is once and for all. We are anticipating great news, especially after a 12-year wait since the conclusion of the manga and a nine-year wait since the conclusion of the anime series, and the 10th anniversary of the conclusion of the Naruto anime is officially approaching.
The Naruto series by Masashi Kishimoto is available to read in its entirety via Manga Plus and Viz Media.
