Solo Leveling Reveals Sung Jinwoo’s Official New Look Ahead of August 7 Comeback

Solo Leveling just revealed its first look at an official live-action version of Sung Jinwoo with an epic new trailer.

Solo Leveling on Ice is a live musical that has seen great success in South Korea, and the show is returning once again on Aug. 7 with a second run. In a new promotional trailer, South Korean figure skater and World silver medalist Cha Junhwan shows off his new glow-up as the Shadow Monarch, Sung Jinwoo.

Junhwan is taking over the role of Jinwoo after K-pop idols Kim Jinhwan of iKON fame and Hoya shared the role in the show’s original December 2025 debut.

Solo Leveling’s Latest Live-Action Show Offers a Fresh Look at Jinwoo in a New Trailer

Produced by Live Arena, the Solo Leveling on Ice show will be featured at the Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul, South Korea from Aug. 7 to Aug. 17, 2026. Co-starring alongside Cha Junhwan in the cast will be Kim Yerim as Jinwoo’s love interest, Cha Haein, and Choi Woohyuk as Jinwoo’s best friend, Yoo Jinho.

Additionally, as revealed in the trailer, Lee Si Hyung will be taking on the role of Igris, singer Kwon Chaewon is playing Jinwoo’s sister Sung Jinah, while popular figure skater turned content creator Amy will play Jinwoo’s old friend Loo Joohee.

While the full story hasn’t been shared, Igris’ appearance suggests this show will adapt at least until Sung Jinwoo’s Job Change Quest, where he first learns his Shadow Extraction skill and utters his iconic phrase, “Arise.”

The new Solo Leveling figure skating show couldn’t have come at a better time. Anime and figure skating have already been having a pretty big crossover moment thanks to the U.S. women’s Olympic figure skating team. Gold medal winner Alysa Liu made headlines during the 2026 Winter Olympics for her love of anime, particularly Chainsaw Man, while recently, Liu’s teammate, Amber Glenn, went viral for her cosplay of Witch Hat Atelier’s Qifrey.

In Solo Leveling on Ice‘s newly released trailer, fans get a glimpse at the looks at outfits for the full main cast, from Jinwoo to Haien and even Igris. Igris’ look is particularly unique for the series, as he wears a red trench coat without a helmet, almost harkening back to his more human form, Sian Halat, recently revealed in the Solo Leveling: Arise Hunter Origin manhwa.

Solo Leveling on Ice Is Helping to Keep Sung Jinwoo’s Story Hot Amid Season 3 Wait

This latest live-action Sung Jinwoo reveal can give fans a decent idea of what to expect when Netflix’s live-action Solo Leveling adaptation arrives. It was recently reported that the filming of the series had finally begun this April and is potentially eyeing a late 2027 release. Sung Jinwoo actor Byeon Wooseok also confirmed he was actively filming for the series in early May.

Aside from Wooseok, other confirmed roles for the Netflix series include Han Sohee as Cha Haein and Kang Youseok as Yoo Jinho. It was also recently reported that Cha Woomin will be taking on the role of Baruka, the leader of the Ice Elves in the Red Gate.

The fact that Baruka, a character who doesn’t appear in the anime until Season 2, has already been cast in the live-action series, seems to suggest that the first season of Netflix’s adaptation may be going further into the story than many fans had previously expected.

Alternative media like Solo Leveling on Ice and the recently released Solo Leveling Karma Moments in Between manhwa are keeping the torch lit for the franchise amid ongoing hiatuses for both the mainline Solo Leveling: Ragnarok manhwa and the highly anticipated anime return of Solo Leveling Season 3. Unfortunately, the latest reports suggest Solo Leveling‘s third season might not come out until late 2027 to early 2028.

While fans will have to travel all the way to Seoul, South Korea, to see Solo Leveling on Ice — as even the original run still hasn’t hit any streaming services after a year — the first two seasons of the Solo Leveling anime are currently available to stream via Crunchyroll.
