Guy Ritchie’s latest R-rated action movie has a new release lined up for July.
Following the release of Fountain of Youth last year, Ritchie delivered the first of his 2026 movies, In the Grey, in May. The action thriller starring Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González opened in theaters opposite the hit horror movie Obsession and the dark comedy Is God Is. Now, it’s been revealed when In the Grey will become available to view on home media.
Black Bear Pictures, Ritchie’s production company, announced that In the Grey is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, July 28. That’s a little over two months after the movie was released to the public. It’s also already available to purchase or rent on digital platforms.
In the Grey follows González’s Rachel Wild, a shrewd lawyer, teaming up with two fixers, Cavill’s Sid and Gyllenhaal’s Bronco, to recover a $1 billion debt from a ruthless crime lord after her mentor is killed. The three leads are joined in the cast by Kristofer Hivju, Emmett J. Scanlan, Jason Wong, Fisher Stevens, and Rosamund Pike, among others. Ritchie both directed and penned the movie, as well as produced it alongside John Friedberg, Dave Caplan, and Ivan Atkinson.
The action thriller has made nearly $24 million during its theatrical run, and has earned mixed critical reception. It has a 49% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ critic-driven Tomatometer, while the audience-driven Popcornmeter rests at 83%. ScreenRant’s In the Grey review rated it seven out of 10 stars, stating that the movie’s “star-powered cast brings plenty of charm, but the story itself feels overly safe and predictable, rarely offering anything that separates it from the broader genre.”
Regardless of where it ranks on each person’s ranking of Ritchie’s movies, the announcement of In the Grey‘s home media release means the movie’s rollout is nearly complete. After that, the wait begins to learn which streaming service will add the movie to its catalog. Fountain of Youth is an Apple TV-exclusive release, while Ritchie’s third-most-recent movie, 2024’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, can currently be viewed on Peacock and Fandango at Home.
Next up for Guy Ritchie is the thriller Wife & Dog, which will be released in theaters on October 23, and stars Pike, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Anthony Hopkins. In April, the filmmaker also wrapped production on his film adaptation of the novel Viva la Madness, starring Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones, and Jason Isaacs. Unlike the book, however, Ritchie’s movie will not function as a direct sequel to Layer Cake, which was adapted into a movie in 2004 that Matthew Vaughn directed, and Daniel Craig starred in.
Additionally, In the Grey’s theatrical release followed two months after Ritchie’s newest TV series, Young Sherlock, premiered on Prime Video. The Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Dónal Finn-led show, which marked Ritchie’s third time tackling the Sherlock Holmes mythology following the Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law-starring movies, earned positive critical reception. As a result, Young Sherlock season 2 has officially been ordered, though there’s no timetable for its arrival.
