Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstoneuniverse expanded yet again a couple of months ago, as a spin-off following fan-favorites Rip (Cole Hauser) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) as they gamble on a new ranch and life in South Texas, debuted to great acclaim on Paramount+. Dutton Ranchhas since dominated the streaming ranks, with the jaw-dropping finale on July 3 helping keep the show at the top of the charts in the U.S. for ten days.
Being a Sheridan fan is like learning to spin plates, with attention having to constantly move between shows. Almost as soon as Dutton Ranch came to an end, all anyone could talk about was the upcoming return of Sheridan’s explosive spy series Lioness, which is launching globally on August 2. Zoe Saldaña returns for a third installment that many speculate to be her last, with reports suggesting she is only signed to make three seasons. If this is to be the last time we experience Joe McNamara in full flow, it is certain to be memorable.
Season 2 of Lioness was a massive hit for Paramount+, with the premiere pulling in 12.4 million multiplatform viewers globally, making it one of the biggest premieres for the streamer ever. With a 10% increase from the first season recorded in total number of U.S. households reached (8.3 million), the bar has been set for the Season 3 premiere. To get in the mood, millions have been dipping back into the series to remind themselves of the drama to come before, helping Lioness re-enter the Paramount+ top ten in the U.S., at the time of writing. The most-watched show on the platform right now remains Dutton Ranch.

Although the man himself is unlikely to lose sleep over it, Sheridan was once again overlooked in the most prominent categories at last week’s 78th annual Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Despite Landman earning a best drama series ensemble nomination from the Actor Awards earlier this year, as well as a previous Critics’ Choice nod for star Billy Bob Thornton, the series was snubbed by the Emmys, with The Madison, another popular Sheridan title starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, also missing out.
