Optimus Prime Turns Evil in New Limited-Edition Transformers Release

Optimus Prime Turns Evil in New Limited-Edition Transformers Release

There’s no shortage of evil versions of Optimus Prime in the Transformers franchise, with this concept having been ubiquitous since the early 2000s. Now, the concept is being given a cinematic makeover with the newest release from Yolopark.

AMK PRO Rise Of The Beasts Optimus Prime Shattered Glass Ver. is a new model kit based on the Autobot leader, but he represents a far darker path for the character. Combining an “evil” color scheme with a recent movie design, it’s set to be a limited-edition figure with only a certain number of units produced. It also coincides with a similar toy for another member of the Autobot squadron.

Optimus Prime’s Darkest Incarnation Is Reborn as a Limited-Edition Transformers Model Kit

Standing at almost eight inches tall, AMK PRO Rise Of The Beasts Optimus Prime Shattered Glass Ver. is a redeco of Yolopark’s previous model kit for Optimus Prime in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Like its predecessor film, Bumblebee, this movie had designs for some of the Autobots and Decepticons that were largely reminiscent of their original Generation 1 forms, eschewing the drastically altered aesthetic of the Michael Bay Transformers movies.

As a result, the new version of the kit comes with the same accessories as before. These include an interchangeable faceplate, six sets of interchangeable hands, two Ion Blasters, an energon gun, an energon axe, two enegon swords, an energon base and a stand. These emulate his arsenal in the movie, but there’s one big difference this time around.

As the name suggests, this version of Optimus Prime has colors based on his incarnation from the Shattered Glass universe, in which the Autobots are evil and the Decepticons aren’t. This replaces his red and blue colors with dark purple and black, with these hues closer to a stereotypical Decepticon color scheme while also evoking Optimus’ other evil counterpart, Nemesis Prime. LED lights that illuminate his red eyes and energon guns make him appear even more fearsome on the battlefield.

Incredibly detailed and articulated, the non-transforming model kit is a great addition for any collection overflowing with dark takes on the iconic Autobot leader. Revealed through the social media accounts for Yolopark, the kit is set to be made available in the coming month through to-be-announced events. Unfortunately, there will only be 1,001 units produced in total, so fans should stay on the lookout for when and where they can get their hands on the collectible.

This comes amid news of a similar toy from the model kit manufacturer. Yolopark is also producing a Shattered Glass version of the model kit for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Bumblebee, rounding out the evil versions of the Autobots. It’s unknown whether other Shattered Glass kits will be made for the other Autobots from the film, but the movie continues to receive new toys three years after it was released.
