Dandadan Season 3 is scheduled to premiere next year, and the series’ production team is determined to keep the hype alive until then. To achieve this goal, the hit franchise has opted for a particularly unorthodox marketing tactic: the creation of an official F1 racing vehicle.
Per Oricon, Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS) — the station that airs Dandadan in Japan — recently partnered with the Atlassian Williams Racing team for an exclusive exhibition at Anime Expo 2026 to promote Season 3 of the anime series. Hosted in the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, the event featured the official reveal of a Dandadan-inspired show car.
The body of the vehicle is adorned with “special wrapping” featuring a bold blue and black color scheme along with the names of various Williams F1 Racing sponsors. Readers can check it out below.

Visitors to F1’s section of the exhibition hall were also treated to decorative still-shots from the Dandadan anime, several of which featured Momo Ayase and Ken “Okarun” Takakura. The organizers also paid tribute to Turbo Granny — the foul-mouthed yokai spirit who initially inhabits Okarun’s body before eventually settling inside a small lucky cat statue. On a second display stand, the exhibition staff set up a large, glowing balloon depicting Granny reclining lazily in her cat form.
Organized by the Society for the Promotion of Japanese collaboration (SPJA), this exhibition demonstrates how Dandadan‘s notoriety has grown exponentially within just a few short years. The anime is based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s titular manga, which launched on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform on April 6, 2021.
Science Saru’s TV adaptation debuted on Oct. 4, 2024, and quickly garnered international acclaim across various global streaming services. In 2025, Dandadan‘s second season closed out the year as Netflix’s most-watched anime series, having accrued over 17.2 million views over a six-month period.
Dandadan‘s unique fusion of supernatural intrigue, comedy and drama has made it a fan-favorite staple of Shonen Jump‘s modern-day lineup. The story revolves around the alien-obsessed Ken Takakura and Momo Ayase, a girl who wields psychic abilities.
After an ill-timed visit to one of Japan’s occult hotspots, the two classmates find themselves battling seemingly endless hordes of aliens, rogue spirits and kaiju monsters with the help of Momo’s grandmother and a feisty “granny” yokai.
Many Dandadan fans are understandably dismayed by the fact that they will have to wait another year for the series’ return. However, the studio has been required to divide time and creative resources among several different projects over the last few years.
The studio’s Summer 2026 broadcast slate includes its highly anticipated Ghost in the Shell reboot and a historical-drama series titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia. In Japan, these two works premiered on July 7 and July 4, respectively.
Dandadan‘s entry into the F1 racing scene is the first of many promotional events that MBS has planned for the iconic shonen series. “[We] plan to exhibit at more than 30 exhibitions around the world before the start of the third season of Dandadan scheduled in 2027,” the company stated. “[We know that ] this will lead the global excitement.”
Dandadan is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu. The original manga is available in English from VIZ Media.
