Hunter x Hunter Officially Loses to One Piece in New Oricon Manga Sales Ranking

Hunter x Hunter Officially Loses to One Piece in New Oricon Manga Sales Ranking

Upon its return from hiatus, Hunter x Hunter has unfortunately failed to take the number one spot in this week’s official manga sales rankings, although its defeat isn’t entirely shocking.

Per the latest Oricon manga sales rankings for the week of June 29 to July 5, 2026, the recently released Hunter x Hunter Vol. 39 has been knocked down to second place on the list. Currently seated in first place is One Piece Vol. 115, which also only recently landed in stores, continuing the fan-favorite franchise’s trend of offering one stunning upset after another throughout 2026.

Both Hunter x Hunter Vol. 39 and One Piece Vol. 115 were released on July 3, 2026, with the two titles arguably standing neck-and-neck in terms of brand-name recognition among Shonen Jump fans. However, One Piece Vol. 115 has taken a massive leap ahead of the competition, amassing more than 627,567 units sold as of the time of writing.

By comparison, Hunter x Hunter Vol. 39 has sold an estimated 401,775 copies in total, far below One Piece Vol. 115 — although notably, still leagues ahead of the number three title on the list, One-Punch Man Vol. 37, which has sold an estimated 72,589 units so far.

As much as this ‘loss’ might sting Hunter x Hunter fans, it also may come as little surprise considering One Piece‘s overwhelming success in recent months. In March, One Piece Vol. 114 beat out Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Vol. 2 by more than 400,000 copies. Not only that, but One Piece Vol. 114 managed to hold onto that number one spot for weeks on end, more than cementing its place as one of the bestselling titles of the year so far.

One Piece Is Still the Biggest Returning Anime & Manga Winner of 2026

Recent volumes of One Piece have continued the ongoing Elbaph (or Elbaf) Arc, which has brought the Straw Hat Pirates and countless others to the eponymous Elbaf Island, home to the franchise’s towering race of giants. More importantly, the Elbaf Arc marks the beginning of the end for the long-running series, with nearly every chapter offering some sort of drastic turn or shocking revelation as the story approaches its ultimate conclusion.

2026 also marked the beginning of the One Piece anime’s adaptation of the Elbaf Arc, much to the delight of audiences around the globe. Of course, this gives fans just one more way to celebrate their favorite franchise, which is quickly heading for what is sure to be an explosive 30th anniversary next year.

To celebrate the release of the Elbaf Arc, Bandai Spirits’ Ichiban Kuji lottery for July, the One Piece Elbaf Arc -GIANT BASH!! Vol.1, offers participants a chance to win prizes ranging from acrylic standees to sticker sets to figures masterfully recreating some of One Piece‘s most recognizable characters.

Top prizes for the latest Ichiban Kuji lottery include MASTERLISE EXPIECE figures of Monkey D. Luffy, Usopp, Nami, Dorry, Figarland Shamrock and even the hulking Loki.
